Everything You Want to Know Before Starting a Weight Loss or Wellness Program
LetsLose is a physician-supervised weight loss and wellness practice founded in 2002 in Central Alabama. We offer two program paths: medically supervised weight-loss programs, including GLP-1 medications such as semaglutide and tirzepatide, and wellness programs built around advanced testing and certified health coaching. We’ve served more than 43,000 patients across six Alabama locations and now offer virtual programs to patients nationwide.
LetsLose operates as a medical weight loss clinic with an on-staff physician who oversees all weight loss programs and approves all wellness lab orders.
Our wellness side is coaching-based rather than diagnostic, meaning our certified health coaches help you understand your results and build a plan, while any medical decisions remain with a licensed physician.
If your primary goal is losing weight, our physician-supervised weight loss programs are the right starting point. If you’re more focused on understanding your overall health, energy, or long-term aging, our wellness programs and intake assessment are a better fit. Many patients find that the two paths naturally support each other, and our team can help you determine where to begin.
Yes. While our six clinics are located throughout Central Alabama, both our wellness programs and select weight loss programs are available virtually to patients across the United States, giving you access to the same personalized care no matter where you live.
Most of our programs, including GLP-1 medications, advanced wellness testing, and health coaching, are offered on a self-pay basis rather than through insurance. Many patients use HSA or FSA funds to help cover costs. Our team can walk you through pricing and payment options during your consultation.
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist that mimics a hormone your body naturally releases after eating to reduce appetite. Tirzepatide works on that same GLP-1 pathway plus a second hormone pathway called GIP, which often makes it a more powerful option for appetite suppression. Our physician will determine which medication fits your health history and goals during your consultation.
Weight loss results vary significantly from patient to patient based on starting weight, program adherence, and individual response to medication. Clinical trials for both semaglutide and tirzepatide have shown meaningful average weight loss over several months, but each patient is unique, and there’s no guarantee of specific results.
Both medications have been studied extensively and are considered safe for most patients when prescribed and monitored by a physician. That said, they aren’t right for everyone, which is why every patient completes a physician evaluation before starting either medication to screen for contraindications like pancreatitis or gallbladder issues.
Not necessarily, though many patients regain some weight if they stop GLP-1 medication without a plan for maintaining their results. That’s why our programs pair medication with lifestyle guidance and ongoing support, so you have a plan for maintaining your progress over time, whether or not you stay on medication long term.
The most common side effects include nausea, mild digestive changes, and appetite reduction, especially during the initial ramp-up period. Most side effects are manageable and tend to improve over time. Our team monitors your progress closely and can adjust your program if side effects become difficult to manage.
Precision wellness is an approach to health that relies on testing rather than assumptions. Instead of applying generic advice, we use advanced testing to understand what’s actually happening in your body, then build a personalized plan around nutrition, lifestyle, and behavior change based on those results.
Health coaching is typically not covered by traditional insurance, though many patients use HSA or FSA funds toward the cost. Our team can provide pricing details during your intake assessment so you know exactly what to expect.
Generic wellness memberships are often built around one-size-fits-all content that isn’t tailored to any one person. Every LetsLose wellness program starts differently, with an intake assessment and a plan built around your specific testing results. You’ll also work with a certified health coach who carries an NPI number and real credentials behind their guidance, not just a generic content library.
Getting started depends on which path is right for you. For weight loss, reach out to request a no-risk, no-obligation new patient consultation with our physician. For wellness, your first step is an intake assessment, which helps us understand your goals and confirm the program is the right fit before you begin.
